Commitment to German location

HUETTINGER Electronic celebrates topping out ceremony for new corporate headquarters

In a topping out ceremony today HUETTINGER Electronic, a member of the TRUMPF Group, celebrated the completion of the structural framework for its new headquarters. This is currently one of the TRUMPF Group’s largest construction projects. The new manufacturing and office building represents a major investment by TRUMPF in its electronics business unit and strengthens the Company’s presence in Freiburg.

The 35 million Euro project shows the commitment of the Company to their German location. The new building allows the Company’s business processes to match the growth it has experienced in recent years. Due to limited space at their current location, further expansion was not feasible. After the move, various departments within the Company will be housed under one roof, enhancing their high level of collaboration and cooperation.

16,000 square meters of floor space to be ready by summer 2006

Close to 350 employees will have workplaces in the new facility starting in July 2006. The building is designed to accommodate up to 450 employees and thus offers space for continued growth. The 100 x 72 meters long and 12 meters high building is located on a 34,000 square-meter lot in the Haid industrial park. The building will have 16,000 square meters of floor space distributed over two floors.

A total of 8,100 cubic meters of concrete, 75 tons of sectional steel and 590 tons of structural steel were used in the construction. The building’s visually appealing facade reflects the sophistication of the high technology products being developed and produced inside. Two rooftop gardens divide the top floor into three elongated office blocks. “Light channels,” which route daylight into the ground floor production hall, also serve as a means of getting smoke out of the building in the unlikely event of a fire. Energy efficiency is at the core of the building’s climate control system. A solar collector on the roof will generate electricity. Heat exchangers will cool the building using ground water pumped from a well. After the water circulates through the cooling circuits, it will be allowed to seep back into the ground.

In their fiscal year 2005/05, the Company generated 71 million Euro in sales revenue. This represents a 27 percent increase over the previous year.
